Hailing from Patna, Mishra's upbringing was in a household with a father who dedicated his life to the Indian Army and a homemaker mother. Armed with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune, he initially secured a well-paying job. Despite enjoying stints in Europe and the United States with an impressive salary of Rs 50 lakh, Mishra found himself lacking a sense of fulfillment.

Recognizing that his current trajectory did not align with his life's purpose, Mishra took a bold step. He returned to India, leaving behind his job, in pursuit of his aspiration to crack the challenging UPSC examination.

In 2012, Mishra's name made its mark on the shortlist, having accomplished this feat in his very first attempt.He joined the prestigious Indian Police Service (IPS), where he currently holds a number of positions, including Superintendent of Police in the districts of Amroha and Gonda in Uttar Pradesh.
